Strafford County Public Health Network (SCPHN) has made the difficult decision to discontinue our participation in the School-Based Clinic Program in partnership with the NH Immunization Program at the NH Department of Health and Human Services. This decision comes as increasing administrative and operational challenges have exceeded our capacity to manage this program.

How you can prevent COVID, flu and other respiratory illness from spreading:
- Get vaccinated! If we are not hosting a vaccine clinic in your school or area, you can visit your doctor's office, pharmacy, or urgent care to receive your flu shot.
You can find information on the influenza vaccine in the Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) here. - Wash your hands! Make sure to wash your hands frequently to help reduce the chance of spreading germs.
- Keep your hands off your face! Avoid touching your eyes, nose & mouth to keep out any germs you may have picked up along the way.
- Cover your coughs & sneezes! To stop the spread of germs that can make you and others sick.
- Stay home if you're sick or don't feel well! This will keep you away from others and keep you from spreading a possible illness, like the flu, to others.
Visit the CDC's website here for more information about how you can stop the spread of the flu.
Why your child should get the flu shot each year:
- With health insurance, it is typically provided at no cost
- Your child will be less likely to get the flu and miss school time.
- You won’t have to miss work when your child is sick with the flu.
- You won’t have to make another trip to your medical provider.
The best way to protect against the flu and its complications is to get a flu vaccine each year. Anyone can catch the flu, but rates of infection are often highest among children. Some children may suffer from complications if they have other health conditions like asthma, diabetes, or heart disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services recommend that everyone six months of age and older get a flu vaccine. With back-to-school time comes a whole checklist of things you need to take care of to get the year started off right.
This guide, created by the CDC, offers more reasons to get the influenza.
