A big part of public health is partnering with other local organizations during times of crisis to ensure a strong community support system. The Strafford County Public Health Network is able to identify needs and meet them with resources, often through the great work of the schools, police and fire departments, healthcare, and other organizations which participate in our groups and events. Volunteers are often a key component to making these efforts successful.
Ready Strafford Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)
Medical Reserve Corps. (MRC) are a national program that convenes community volunteers “who want to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies and to support ongoing preparedness initiatives”. (ASPR) Despite the name, MRCs are made up of medical professionals and other non-healthcare volunteers from the communities they serve.
Recent opportunities for our Ready Strafford MRC include:
-
- helping inventory our emergency management supplies,
- building first aid kits and overdose prevention kits with our Addiction Task Force,
- and supporting our school- and community-based vaccination efforts.
